Further, I didn’t mean to suggest that you said there was a simple answer. This is a strategic endeavor. There are actions we must take in the short term in addition to the long term to protect people from terror attacks.

In the short term, we must prevent more terror attacks, and save innocent lives. In the long term, we need to bring archaic thinking into contemporary thought.

I was about 100 feet from the bomb in the World Trade Center in 1993. I saw several dead people, the carnage the blast caused, and I carried an elderly woman up to the top of the stairs, because she couldn’t make it by herself. This caused me to study these people.

The transnational NGO is representative of what Huntington deemed to be a clash of civilizations. The right to their religious freedom tends to conflict with civil societies laws. Civil societies prohibit polygamy, honor death, and many of this religion’s tenets. There is no obligation for civil societies to allow this behavior.

In his declaration of war against America, Osama bin-Ladin cites the lack of self-defense by America as reasons to commit more atrocities against us. Thus, no matter which course of action we take, fight of flight, we are wrong.

Yes, they are excellent at propaganda. This Seventy-five percent of Arabs believed Saddam won the first Persian Gulf War. In addition, these terrorists have killed many more Muslims than America or the West has. Counter propaganda is one tool to utilize against them.

It is truly a global issue. Countries must take action against the local terror groups. A perusal of the daily headlines indicates that there are numerous Islamic separatist movement. Moreover, they will use terror to get their way.

It’s not a pretty picture.

All the best,
Rickscience fiction writerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05562141948788256444noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4449069758560401638.post-51577547339414545152008-08-13T12:56:00.000-04:002008-08-13T12:56:00.000-04:00Rick,I did not mean to suggest that there are easy...Rick,

I did not mean to suggest that there are easy solutions. Part of the problem is that we have targeted countries, rather than the terrorists. While countries are largely immobile, terrorists are not.

Terrorists are very good at playing with psychology. They use it to recruit people. We have provided them with material to help them recruit many more. We somehow expect that the picture presented of America will be balanced. That what people in other countries think about America does not matter, but this is where we help the terrorists.

Every little thing that they see America do that is dismissive of their culture, their country, their religion - these become things they can use to help recruit more terrorists. There is no truth in advertising. They are not required to point out the good that America does.

The world media do not see any reason to present a balanced view of America - that would be far too complex. The big guy on the block is the opponent of the underdog. Many people automatically root for the underdog. We are not an underdog in any international interaction.

Intelligence does not matter on the part of most of the recruits. They are the ones looking for the simple solution - Allah's Demented Killers vs. Big Bad America. They do not value intelligence, intellectual discourse, or any of the rights protected by the Constitution. They oppose tolerance of those who do not harm others. They oppose freedom. They oppose thinking.

We have seen a change in the terrorists, from the semi-literate political terrorists killing in a misguided effort to create a Marxist world, to the semi-literate religious terrorists killing in a misguided effort to create a fundamentalist Muslim world.

There will never be an easy answer to this. There will never be a complete answer to this.

"Shiite and Sunni are going to have to love their children more than they hate each other, before the tensions can be overcome." Gen. Peter Pace in remarks to the Senate Armed Services Committee. Unfortunately, this is the problem with terrorism. People become so mad at another group that they no longer value the lives of their children as much as they do the death of their enemy. They no longer value their own lives as much as the death of their chosen Satan. Killing more terrorists does not mean we have fewer terrorists, but more martyrs, more personal examples for recruitment.Rogue Medichttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07598646309630074992noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4449069758560401638.post-41902227453830331092008-08-13T07:18:00.000-04:002008-08-13T07:18:00.000-04:00Nice discourse. And the correct answer is--there ...Nice discourse. And the correct answer is--there are no easy solutions. We are facing an transnational NGO with 2 -3 million jihadis (willing to commit suicide to further their gaols), that have the support of 100 million Muslims (Gallup). This doesn't count the nearly 70% of Muslims not in America that "somewhat support" terrorists World Public Opinion).

Terrorism is a huge global problem.science fiction writerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05562141948788256444noreply@blogger.com
